Van de Kemp, Jessica
Jessica Van de Kemp is an award-winning teacher, poet, and PhD candidate at the University of Waterloo. She is the author of the poetry chapbooks Daughters in the Dead Land (Kelsay Books, 2017) and Spirit Light (The Steel Chisel, 2015). Her poem, “Slant of the Girl,” was shortlisted for the 2015 Montreal International Poetry Prize, judged by Eavan Boland. Her play, Hatching in a Cage, was a finalist at the inaugural Newmarket National Play Festival. William Waters is an associate professor, in the Department of English at the University of Houston Downtown. Along with Sonja Foss, he is coauthor of Destination Dissertation: A Traveler’s Guide to a Done Dissertation. His research and teaching interests are in writing theory and modern grammar.
Watkins, James Eric
James Eric Watkins has held everything in his hands from a carpenter's hammer to the pages of Plato. He is drawn to art and the particulars of life the way smoke draws to a sudden draft. Dramatically performing his poetry and poetic speeches he has done at libraries, colleges, universities, and bookstores in Indiana. The very first submission James sent out in late 2002 got accepted by Poetry Motel.rnrnWhile working as Lead Library Clerk and earning two associate degrees at Ivy Tech Community College of Indiana, he continued to publishing his poetry, essays, and articles in newspapers, literary journals, magazines, and anthologies, winning a few contests sponsored by the Indiana and Kentucky State Poetry Societies. Watkins, Jorrell
Jorrell Watkins aka “Brotha Jorrell” is an artist and educator hailing from Richmond, VA. His work explores southern, black, hip-hop culture(s) through creative writing, drama, martial arts, and peace education. He has studied playwrighting at VONA, and poetry at Hampshire College. He currently serves as the Director of the nationally touring Hip-hop Theater play, Mixed Race Mixtape. In addition, he is a Lead Conflict Resolution Facilitator of the Richmond Peace Education Center (RPEC).
