Cappella, David
David Cappella, Professor Emeritus of English and the 2017/2018 Poet-in-Residence at Central Connecticut State University, has co-authored two widely used poetry textbooks, Teaching the Art of Poetry: The Moves and A Surge of Language: Teaching Poetry Day to Day. His Gobbo: A Solitaire’s Opera won the Bright Hill Press Poetry Chapbook Competition in 2006. The book manuscript will appear with Cervena Barva Press in Spring 2021, several poems of which have been translated into Italian. His poems and essays have appeared in various literary journals and anthologies in the US and Europe. His novel, Kindling, has been called “a powerful and devastating coming-of-age story.” He is currently co-translating Tracce di un’anima, a book of poems by the Italian poet Germana Santangelo and working on a memoir, Tugging the Mayflower Home. Cariño, Ina
Josephine “Ina” Cariño’s work has appeared in such journals as New American Fiction (New Rivers Press), One (Jacar Press), and december, among others. Her poem “Feast” won the inaugural 2018 Sundress Publications broadside contest. The publication of this poem is forthcoming. Influenced by the natural backdrop of her childhood home in the mountains of the Philippines, Ina draws on both nature imagery and folklore in her work. She currently resides in Raleigh, NC, where she is pursuing her MFA in creative writing at North Carolina State University.rn
